Solgen is a mesotrophic lake ie. moderately nutritious with slightly colored water and with varied sand and dy bottom. At its deepest, the lake is 20 meters and the average depth is around 5.4 meters. The area of the lake is 22.20 km². In addition to being an excellent fishing lake, it is also a cozy lake with several islands to go ashore on.
Fishing licenses and equipment
Fishing licenses for Skälsnäs fishing area are sold at the farm and there is of course the possibility to buy fishing licenses for other parts of Solgen as well. Boat with oars, 4hp engine and petrol available for rent or purchase. Children under fifteen fish for free in the entire lake. Only hand gear is allowed when fishing in the lake.
Things to keep in mind
A fishing license applies to all species except crayfish, which may not be fished. Walleyes to be picked up and eaten must be at least 50 cm, but of course smaller walleyes and all other fish that are injured must also be euthanized. Some of the islands in Solgen are covered with access bans during certain times of the year so as not to disturb nesting birds. Signs are posted on these islands.
